The Gmail App for Android has been graced with a minor Update. This update will bring below mentioned “improvements” for users on 2.3 a.k.a. Gingerbread (Version 2.3.4)

Gmail-updated

  1. Enable Long Press to copy text on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) devices
  2. Sync custom label colours
  3. Bug fixes

Though this may not sound much, the ability for Copy-Paste was sorely needed. Earlier you had to click on More—>Select Text—> (Text Copied to Clipboard)—> Paste Text

Check out some screenshots below, to get an idea of the new features

The Best thing here is Gmail updates aren’t tied to Android Version releases anymore. Now you can get new Gmail stuff a LOT FASTER without having to wait for system updates (Éclair to Froyo to Gingerbread to Honeycomb… To Ice-cream…).

Head over to the Android Market to download the new app – the update is 2.14MB large.
