I am an avid supporter of Open Source and in my college, I work for the Open Source User Group (OSUG), Pantnagar. We have been organizing numerous events in the past and this May we are organizing India’s largest unconference on Open Source – OSScamp Pantnagar. The dates scheduled for the camp are the 1st and 2nd of May 2010.

OSSCamps are a place where geeks, professionals, students and other people gather together to celebrate the spirit of Open Source. The camps are organised on an unconference model, that is, we do not believe in the formalities of having formal speakers, long boring lectures, sessions, talks……. All we believe in is knowledge sharing and that we do through unconferences. In an unconference, there is no audience, everybody is a participant and has got something or the other to say on the topic being discussed. We follow the Law of Two Feet which states that,

If you think that the time which you are spending in the unconference can be better spent in some other fruitful work, you can use your two feet and go out to pursue that work. There won’t be any offence to the speaker or any other participant in the unconference.”

In the past, OSScamps have been organised by the community in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangaluru, Pilani, Chandigarh and also once at Pantnagar. The last camp at Pantnagar was organised on January 31 – February 1, 2009 and was attended by more than 300 geeks! This time, we are looking at even higher numbers.

Seems like you are getting interested a bit. So why don’t you head to http://osscamp.in to know more about OSScamps. And yes, after you do that, do not forget to register for OSScamp Pantnagar May 2010. You can register using the form below:
