Just got the mail from HP saying that they are replacing battery packs which probably have some manufacturing defect. They have provided a page where you can check your HP, Compaq laptop’s model number and see if you have got the bad battery pack or no. You just have to input serial number of battery near the barcode, as shown below
They claim that the affected batteries are gonna overheat and finally burst .. bummer :O !! It is voluntarily effort by HP/Compaq and this program is much more similar to the one Nokia did almost an year back. I have this blog entry related to Nokia’s Battery Replacement program on my other blog.
But somehow I believe the original batteries last long than the replaced ones. I have not tried my battery code yet, but still I do not want to get it replaced.
