The last time twitter had changed the design, it was the homepage, the user profile pages and the inclusion of the profile boxes on the hover-over of the cursor over the username, which were newly introduced to it. But this time, twitter has brought in a facelift that can call it more than just a microblogging site.

The new changes make the 140-characters into something more complex and let you discover and share what’s happening all around. The tweets have become richer in information, context and makes you stay on the page and explore everything there itself, instead of navigating out of it which you used to do earlier.

The changes are not rolled out for everyone as of now, but few users have got the taste of it, explaining the changes as below –

New design, streamlined view

Unlike what you used to see earlier on the right side, the @mentions, retweets and lists just above the timeline, and the right column would not port the media (if there is any in the tweet) like the youtube videos etc., apart from the list of people you follow and the list of your followers, and the favorites section.

Media viewing directly beside timeline

Twitter partnered with the most-used media sites like Dailybooth, DeviantArt, Etsy, Flickr, Justin.TV, Kickstarter, Kiva, Photozou, Plixi, Twitgoo, TwitPic, Twitvid, USTREAM, Vimeo, Yfrog, and YouTube to open the embedded photos and videos directly on twitter, instead of sending the user to those media sharing sites always when any item is shared on the timeline.

Mini profiles on timeline

There was a small box with some information about the user earlier, when you hover over a username. The same has been modified to bring in a mini-profile box, which lets you stay on the web page and check the profile that excludes just the tweets of the user. You can also see the options of following, unfollowing, adding the user to any list, or direct message the user.

Find related content

The detailed information about a particular tweet when you click on it, would include the information about the author or the subject. And depending on the content, the replies and the tweets made by the user are displayed there itself.

This is an attempt made to keep the users at the same page, and have a better navigation and browsing on twitter. It would be soon coming out as a preview the coming weeks and the original launch is not yet set to come out already.
